cookies & storage.
This page explains how CustomShoesByUs ("we", "us") uses cookies and similar browser storage when you visit customshoesbyus.com. Read it alongside our privacy policy.
Strictly necessary cookies and storage keep cart, checkout, account, and region features working. Optional storage remembers preferences such as theme and recently viewed products in your browser only.

what are cookies and similar technologies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. We also use similar technologies such as local storage in your browser for preferences and recently viewed products. Cookies can be set by us (first-party) or by services we use (third-party), such as Stripe for payments.
how we use cookies and storage
We group cookies and browser storage into these categories:
- Strictly necessary: required for the site to function — shopping cart, checkout, account sign-in, region and pricing context, and security.
- Functional: remember preferences such as language, light or dark theme, and recently viewed products stored locally in your browser.
- Payment: Stripe may set cookies to process payments securely and help prevent fraud.
We do not use advertising or third-party marketing cookies on the storefront at the time of this policy.
cookies we set
| Name | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
_medusa_cart_id | Links your browser to your shopping cart and checkout session | 7 days | Strictly necessary (HTTP-only) |
_medusa_jwt | Keeps you signed in to your account | 7 days | Strictly necessary (HTTP-only) |
_medusa_cache_id | Stores region and pricing cache context for accurate storefront data | 24 hours | Strictly necessary |
_pathname | Remembers the current path for region routing and cache behaviour | 1 hour | Strictly necessary |
_medusa_locale | Remembers your language or locale preference | 1 year | Functional |
_medusa_onboarding | Tracks admin onboarding state when applicable; cleared when complete | Session | Strictly necessary |
Medusa commerce cookies remain active because the storefront cannot process carts, accounts, or checkout without them. Blocking or deleting them may sign you out, empty your cart, or reset region pricing.
browser storage we use
| Key | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
csbu-theme | Remembers light or dark theme preference | Until cleared in browser settings | Functional (local storage) |
csbu-recently-viewed | Stores recently opened product handles so you can compare styles in this browser | Until cleared in browser settings | Functional (local storage) |
Local storage data stays on your device and is not sent to our servers. Clearing site data in your browser removes these entries.
third-party cookies
When you pay at checkout, Stripe may set cookies or similar identifiers to process your payment and help prevent fraud. Stripe operates under its own privacy and cookie policies.
Our site is hosted on infrastructure that may log technical request data. We do not control cookies set by third parties outside the checkout flow.
managing cookies and storage
You can control cookies and browser storage through:
- Browser settings: most browsers let you block, delete, or clear cookies and site data. Blocking all cookies will break cart, checkout, and account features.
- Device settings: on mobile, you may manage tracking or storage preferences in system settings.
- Sign out: signing out of your account removes the session cookie tied to your login.
Where required by law, we will obtain consent before placing non-essential cookies and provide a way to update your preferences.
do not track
Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. There is no uniform industry standard for responding to DNT signals. We currently do not respond to DNT signals but honour applicable legal requirements regarding consent and opt-out.
updates
We may update this page when our storefront technology changes. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the latest revision. Material changes may also be noted on the site where appropriate.
